While the past couple of years have been shaped by unexpected change, we remain hopeful that 2022 will be full of health, prosperity, and stunning interiors! With a new year comes new trends, and we always enjoy seeing how the design industry will evolve in the coming months. 2021 was marked by need for beautiful, yet functional spaces to accommodate families working and conducting many other activities from home. This is still a necessity for many, but we hope that we can inspire you in new and different ways this year.

1. Soft Colors

Soft Colors

This year, we expect to see the addition of soft colors to natural elements. We think many will be drawn to designs that have personality and are more representative of their lifestyles. Though an all-natural interior can be exceptional, we predict people are ready to introduce a little more color to the spaces that house their lives.

2. Antiques

Our world is headed toward a more sustainable future, and that doesn’t exclude the interior design industry. As supply chains back up and lead times extend, we will be looking at more sustainable sources to furnish our spaces. Antique pieces will play a major role in this shift while also adding a little charm and character to your home.

3. Curves

Curves

Bring on the shape and dimension! Clean, sleek lines will always have their time and place, but in 2022 we expect to see more curves, from archways, round edges, spiral stairs, and much more. These softer elements will bring a welcoming aesthetic to your space and invite a sense of some much-needed relaxation for everyone who interacts with your interiors.

4. No More Shades of Gray

Color - Brown

In 2022, say goodbye to shades of gray, and consider warmer shades of brown that invite you in. Warmer colors are undoubtedly more calming, cozy, and comfortable, which is exactly what we need as we continue to push forward in our somewhat new normal from the safety and beauty of our homes.

5. Traditional Design

Traditional Design

As a result of the new mix of antiques and vintage style with modern decor, many people are becoming drawn to a more traditional aesthetic. When it comes to incorporating vintage pieces into a space, it’s all about balance. This tasteful combination will create spaces that are collected and curated to your personal style while keeping it fresh.

This past year, interior design was marked by a need for functionality. As we move forward into the new year, we think many will desire a more inviting interior, and we look forward to seeing how our homes will evolve. We predict 2022 will be defined by color, shape, and a traditional mix of antiques. Hopefully these trend predictions will inspire your interiors in new ways!
